Welcome to the Engineering Student Team Council’s website!
Here, you will find everything you need to know about each of the 16 teams that we represent. This website is meant to serve as a resource for the media, sponsors, teams and students.
The Engineering Student Team Council is a gathering of engineering students who represent the interests each of the engineering student teams. The objective of the ESTC is to foster the development of new teams, to support existing teams, and to enable enhanced collaboration between engineering student teams, providing maximum benefit and exposure through access to resources, increased communication, and a cohesive voice. The ESTC strives to firmly establish the University of British Columbia as the best university in the world for engineering student teams by ensuring the availability of facilities and resources, improving competitiveness, and providing an environment in which student teams can innovate to maximize their learning potential.
To students new to engineering student teams:
Are you interested in getting involved in extracurricular activities? Are looking for real world design, competition, team, and leadership experience? This is your chance to get to know 16 teams from across the UBC campus who work on various projects such as human powered submarines, Formula 1 race cars, autonomous robotics, steel bridges, space satellites, concrete toboggans, and many fuel efficient cars! These teams recruit students from various departments in engineering as well as other faculties such as commerce and business students, and students in arts. Previous experience is not necessary; this is the opportunity for you to learn and develop your skills and become a true expert in your field of study!
To the media:
Engineering student teams offer a great opportunity for amazing stories! All of our teams are always available to be in contact with the media. Sometimes, all you need to do is ask and teams can provide footage for you! For more information, please see the “For the Media” page above.
To sponsors:
First, a word of thanks to all sponsors who currently support an engineering competition team. Without your generosity, we could not achieve the goals that we set out to accomplish! Your contributions, both monetary and in-kind, allow us to grow as students towards becoming professionals and, one day, your colleagues!
For all potential sponsors, there are many benefits. For more information please see the “For Sponsors” page above.
